Improving Your Home Security
While we can not go out and eliminate the criminals, we can reduce the risk our home represents when it comes to falling victim to crime. Try not to be too flashy. Do not keep valuables out in the open for everyone to see and try to shut the garage whenever possible. If anything, play down the amount of money you have and if you are really concerned about being the victim of theft, perhaps that next renovation or paint job can wait until you can afford a watch dog...continue reading

Is Your Home Secure
First, we all need to remember that there is not a burglar proof home. If someone really wants to enter your home to take your property, they will find a way in.  Our goal is to make the process incredibly difficult in the hope that 99% of the burglars will move on to another home or another location.  Many times people are robbed because their house was simply too easy to get into.  Make the process of breaking into your home as difficult as possible...continue reading

More Security Tips and Advice
For good overall home security, a planned approach is needed. As has been proven by various studies or crime activity, residential burglary happens more frequently in households where crime prevention measures have not been taken. Try to recognize the basic security risks that exist in and around your home such as old window or door frames, balconies or drain pipes that can easily be climbed, or hidden entry points. Then form a plan to reduce these vulnerabilities...continue reading

Security Tips From The Professionals
Consider getting a safe. Most safes are now water and fire proof, up to a certain extent. Safes are classified as A, B, and C. With a class A safe protecting what’s inside for up to four hours at 2000 degrees Fahrenheit, class B protects for up to two hours at a maximum of 1850 degrees Fahrenheit, and class C protects up to one hour at 1700 degrees Fahrenheit. Make sure to get the ones that are water proof, too, for the extra protection...continue reading

Security Doors and Windows
When you install tempered or laminated glass, even if your glass breaks it will not shatter all over the floor leaving a large hole for an intruder to climb through.  You should also install locking devices on your windows and sliding glass door that will make prying open or removing a glass door difficult...continue reading

Home Security
Many front doors don’t have a secured lock. Homeowners might take offense to that statement and say that they do, but the definition of a truly secured lock might be different depending on how much you know about the subject. Did you know that one common way of breaking into any home is simply kicking the front door in? To prevent this, you need to have a reinforcement around the strike plate...continue reading

Home Security Tips
Usually, a combination of a deadbolt and a locking door handle will be sufficient to secure the door against intruders. However, be sure that all the doors are equally secured, as often, the front door is not the one used by thieves to enter a residence. Beyond locks, the security of the entrance to your home can be enhanced by simple accessories such as a “davie bar”, a steel rod that can be adjusted to wedge between the door handle and the...continue reading

More Home Security Tips
For example, many people face a problem with their sliding patio doors. They would like to have the door open for fresh air at various points during the day or evening but most fear some kind of intrusion if they do so. There is a product that's out on the market that will help this problem and that's the keyed patio door lock...continue reading

Wireless Home Security Systems

Wireless home security systems can be a fantastic way to protect your home and your loved ones. These systems can include a number of different options to increase and customize your security plan. Wireless systems are somewhat different than systems which are hard wired, so you should understand exactly what a wireless home security system is, what the benefits are, and exactly how these systems work. Knowing all this information can help you make the best security choices for your home and situation. Wireless security systems are becoming more popular for many reasons. These systems are easier to install in an existing home, and they can be changed and adjusted quickly with a minimum of work and effort.

If you are having a home custom built to meet your specifications, it may be a good idea to have a hard wired system installed, but if your home is already built, wireless security systems are the simplest way to add the protection you want and need. Burglary, home invasion, and violent crimes in the home are on the rise, and most of the time no one ever thinks that these can happen to them. Do not wait until you or a family member become a victim and lose property or worse, to think about security. Look at your various security system options and determine which ones are the right fit with your security needs and lifestyle. Wireless security systems will allow you to quickly and conveniently add or change sensors, so that your house is always protected.

Security systems come in a wide variety in addition to being wireless and wired. Wireless systems use infrared beams and radio frequencies to transmit signals, while a wired system must actually be completely connected with wires. You can choose a system that is monitored, which means if an alarm goes off, the security system company is alerted and will contact authorities and respond to your home or call to see if there s a problem. Monitoring usually involves a small monthly fee but the cost is well worth it because your home is always being monitored and kept safe. You can also choose to have the alarms installed without monitoring, and in this situation the alarm will go off and make a loud noise but no one will be contacted.

Security systems can include motion detectors, glass break alarms, video cameras, panic buttons in every room of the home, and much more. There is no limit to what you can do to secure your home as long as your budget will permit it. Unlike celebrities and stars, most of us can not afford personal body guards and security personnel, but a wireless security system can offer you protection for your loved ones and home at a small cost that will fit into almost any budget.

A common mistake made by those who install wireless home security systems is to ignore other safety aspects and risks. It is important to remember that your security system only works once you arm it. If you are home and your system is off and your doors are unlocked, even the security system is not going to protect you from a home invasion. Make sure to keep your doors locked and your system armed, unless you are going in and out frequently. Make sure you always keep your keys in your possession and do not lose them. Guard your alarm code, and never write it down and leave it in your purse or wallet. Do not leave the code where anyone can see it.

A wireless security system offers the ability to add sensors when needed, so you can enlarge the perimeter if needed without having to run any wires or add a lot of other equipment. Going wireless means that when you add sensors you simply need to make sure they operate and are receiving or sending the required signal. Because of the extra work required to run a wired security system, most installed systems that are put in existing homes are wireless for convenience and easy installation.

Installing a wireless security system in your home is a good way to protect your home, your belongings, and your family. These systems are not a substitute for common sense and other safety and security measures, such as keeping your doors locked and installing outside lights, but having a security system in place and using a monitoring service can greatly lower the chances that anyone will try to enter your home for criminal purposes.
